Longshoreman Suspended by Commission After Arrest for Assault by Auto.
March 8, 2012
Longshoreman Aaron Thompson, a Ship Foreman at Port Newark Container Terminal, was suspended today by Commission vote after his arrest for Assault by Auto – a crime of the third degree. Thompson was arrested after his pick-up truck slammed into another vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The driver of that vehicle was seriously injured. Thompson failed a field sobriety test at the scene and was issued a summons for refusal to take a breathalyzer test. The case is being prosecuted by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Commission today issued a Notice of Hearing against Thompson and he is temporarily suspended pending the outcome of his administrative hearing on those charges.
