March 8, 2012
Longshoreman Manuel Salgado pleaded guilty to Obstruction of Justice Before Judge Eric Vitaliano in United States District Court in Brooklyn on March 8, 2012. Salgado, a gang boss at PNCT, admitted he lied to a federal grand jury investigating the extortionate collection of "Christmases" (Container Royalty Bonus Checks) by Union Officials on behalf of the Genovese Crime Family. Salgado faces up to 16 months in prison at sentencing.
Salgado has been suspended by the Commission since his arrest on January 20, 2011 pending an administrative hearing to revoke his registration as a longshoreman.
