The Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor temporarily suspended the registration of of checker Anthony Gomez, 47, of Sayreville, New Jersey, pending the outcome of an administrative hearing related to a recent arrest. Gomez had worked at APM Terminals. The temporary suspension was the result of his arrest on February 19, 2020, in Sayreville, New Jersey, for Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose during a Domestic Dispute (a crime of the second degree), Aggravated Assault (a crime of the fourth degree), and four (4) counts of Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Magazine (a crime of the fourth degree). It is alleged that Gomez pointed a firearm at the victim during a domestic dispute and was in possession of two thirty (30) round capacity .223 caliber magazines for a rifle and two fifteen (15) round capacity 9mm caliber magazines for a handgun. The Notice of Hearing charges that Gomez’ presence at the piers or other waterfront terminals in the Port of New York District constitutes a danger to the public peace or safety.
