DOCK WORKER ADMITS TO WITNESS TAMPERING

August 24, 2016

Today, in the New Jersey Superior Court, Union County, Courtney Wallace, 36, a longshore worker from Irvington, New Jersey, pleaded guilty to Witness Tampering, a crime of the third degree. Earlier this year, she made a witness make false statements to law enforcement in order to falsely implicate another longshore worker on assault and weapon charges.

Wallace is scheduled to be sentenced on October 21, at which time she is expected to be ordered to serve 90 days in Union County Jail. The Court is also expected to order Wallace to pay full restitution to the longshoreman who had been arrested because of the false allegations against him.

Wallace’s registration as a longshore person was suspended following her arrest on Friday, April 22, 2016, by detectives from the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Waterfront Commission. An administrative hearing before the Waterfront Commission is pending.
