Warehouseman Suspended by Commission after Arrest for Shooting in Drug Deal Gone Bad

May 7, 2014

Warehouseman Derrick Smith has been suspended by the Commission and a Notice of Hearing issued after he was arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Conspiracy with Intent to Distribute Prescription Narcotics (oxycodone). Smith was arrested after what Belleville, New Jersey Police describe as “a drug deal gone badly” which resulted in a gun fight. The victim in the incident was shot multiple times in the back and arm. The criminal case is being prosecuted by the Essex County Prosecutor.

The Commission temporarily suspended Smith’s registration as a warehouseman pending the outcome of an Administrative Hearing on the matter.
