Longshoreman Arrested on Perjury Indictment

July 31, 2012

Longshoreman Dominick Dinapoli, a crane operator at Red Hook Container Terminal, was arrested and arraigned in Manhattan on an indictment charging him with five counts of Perjury in the First Degree (Class D felonies). Bail was set at $50,000.

The indictment charges that Dominick Dinapoli committed perjury during a proceeding before the Waterfront Commission in connection with an investigation of Dinapoli's relationship to Mario Gallo, an organized crime associate, and prison inmates who had been at the same prison facilities as Mario Gallo. The indictment alleges that Dominick Dinapoli falsely testified about whether he knew William Brown, a prison inmate, when, in truth, Dominick Dinapoli sent seven postal money orders and Western Union money transfers for $300 each to William Brown's commissary account.

The case was investigated by the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor and is being prosecuted by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. A copy of the indictment is attached.
